The Perpetrator Officer will be based at Phoenix House, Blaina, but will be required to work throughout the Gwent borough to further develop and deliver interventions to male and female perpetrators of domestic abuse.
Responsibilities and tasks
The Perpetrator Officer’s duties are to:
- Deliver the Perpetrator Programme to perpetrators of domestic abuse.
This includes both assessment work and facilitating group sessions, including evening sessions. Support with the planning of the programme and undertaking work as necessary to maintain the Respect accreditation, by pooling best practice evidence and developing resources
- Develop and maintain effective working links with key partners and services to encourage referrals into the service and joint working.
- Assess the needs and dynamic risks of victims of domestic abuse and their children, carry out short and long term risk management, safety planning, identify and refer to services appropriate to their needs, including attendance at Child Protection Case Conferences and MARAC as required. Work in partnership with other members of staff and colleagues in external agencies to ensure that the safety of children and victims is paramount.
- Advise perpetrators and families affected by domestic abuse of their rights and options for seeking help and support from other agencies, making referrals and coordinating provision of multi-agency support where necessary, proactively advocate, ensuring barriers to accessing support and protection are minimised.
- Support the management team and administrators to monitor outcomes,
and keep them informed of any issues and successes.
- Ensure that agreed case recording and monitoring systems are kept up to date and secure, and write internal and external reports where required, including for safeguarding conferences, team meetings, managers and others.
- At all times protect the safety and security of Phoenix DAS, service users, staff, volunteers and buildings, and the confidentiality of records and other information.
- Actively participate in ongoing supervision and team meetings as required.
- Be responsible for personal learning and development by keeping up to date with research, legislation, policy and practice, and other literature relevant to the project.
- Ensure the effective implementation of Phoenix DAS’ Safeguarding, Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities and other policies and procedures, and uphold the core values of Phoenix DAS.
- Work across teams and undertake other such duties, appropriate to the grade and character of the work, as may reasonably be expected.

This is a new and exciting opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join our team at Phoenix Domestic Abuse Services. We are looking for the right person who is able to support victims of domestic abuse, help them to identify their strengths and needs in order to reduce risk and increase their resilience and wellbeing.
The successful candidates duties will include assessment, risk management, support work and also facilitating individual and group sessions.
The successful candidate will be forward thinking and adopt a restorative, person centred approach and have a strong belief that all people are capable of change given the right motivation, support and practical assistance.

Intervention Hub Co-ordinator – 25 Hours per week
Intervention Hub Co-ordinator

The intervention hub coordinator will be based at Phoenix House, Blaina, but will be required to work throughout the Gwent borough to further develop and deliver the intervention hub to male and female perpetrators of domestic abuse.
The intervention hub is an online cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) based intervention that tackles a range of issues including domestic abuse. During the project this approach will be promoted and piloted throughout Gwent with a clear monitoring and evaluation process in place in order to assess its effectiveness.
Responsibilities and tasks
The intervention hub coordinators duties are to:
- Attend training on the use of the intervention hub and use this knowledge to develop a plan to pilot the hub with perpetrators throughout the Gwent area
- Work alongside the perpetrator team to identify suitable candidates for the programme and implement robust monitoring tools to assess and manage risk
- Liaise with referrers to promote the project
- Manage a caseload of perpetrators using the hub and provide support as needed
- Provide accurate and up to date reports to refers on progress with hub interventions
